OFFICE MEMORANDUM

 

 

Subject:  Setting up of a Group to speed up the process of arriving at consensus amongst the States on the proposals of interbasin  water transfer of NWDA.

 

In pursuance of the decision taken in the 42nd meeting of the Governing Body of NWDA, a Group is hereby constituted under the Chairmanship of Chairman, CWC having the following composition to discuss & expedite the process of arriving at consensus amongst the States regarding sharing of surplus water as per the proposals of interbasin water transfer of NWDA as well as issue of preparation of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of link schemes by NWDA:

            Terms of Reference for the above Group shall be as under:

1.         To commence & expedite the process of arriving at consensus amongst the states regarding availability of surplus water in river basins/sub-basins and the quantum of surplus water to be transferred from surplus basins to deficit basins/areas as per the proposals of interbasin water transfer framed by NWDA based on the National Perspective Plan.

2.         To assist states in reaching to an agreement regarding sharing of costs & benefits by the beneficiary states and other related issues for taking up implementation of the link schemes.

3.         To discuss the issue of preparation of DPRs by NWDA pertaining to various link schemes for which feasibility reports have already been completed by NWDA. 

In this connection priority could be given to links for which the Action Plans for implementation have been prepared by NWDA with a view to take up the work of preparation of DPRs. 

4.         Any other issue related to the above.

 

The group will function on continuous basis till all the above issues are resolved satisfactorily with the states for the links proposed by NWDA.
