Brief Profile of Shri Baleshwar Thakur, Director General, NWDA

Shri Baleshwar Thakur, DG, NWDA has been working in railway, power and water sector for more than 34 years in various capacities. He is a graduate in Civil Engineering from Bhagalpur College of Engineering, Bhagalpur. He has dealt with various aspects of railway infrastructure, power and water resources development while working in Railways, CEA, CWC, Betwa River Board, DVRRC and MoJS as planning and designing of Civil component of Railway Infrastructures, Thermal Power Stations, Appraisal of Hydro-electric Projects, Investigation and Preparation of DPR of H.E. Project, Flood Forecasting, Reservoir Regulation, Monitoring of SMI and AIBP Projects, dealing with Polavaram Project Authority etc. The main areas of his specialization are planning and designing of infrastructure projects, power projects, water resources project planning, procurement and construction planning, investigations of Multipurpose and Hydro-Electric projects, interstate issues, interlinking of rivers etc. He has handled a number of important power projects while working in CEA and AIBP projects while working in MoJS.

He has been instrumental for initiating the implementation of Ken Betwa Link Project. He had also additional charge of Secretary, Betwa River Board while working as Director, Control Board in CWC for about 2 years.
