Brief Profile of Shri Bhopal Singh, Director General, NWDA
Shri Bhopal Singh, DG, NWDA has been working in water sector for more than 37 years in various capacities. He is a graduate in Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi and post graduate from IIT Roorkee in Hydrology. He has dealt with various aspects of water resources development while working in CWC , WAPCOS (I) and NWDA such as planning and designing of water resources structures, project hydrology, basin hydrology, environmental flows, dam safety, hydro-meteorological data observations in rivers, monitoring and appraisal of water resources projects etc. The main areas of his specialization are planning and designing of water resources structures, hydrology, interstate issues, environmental flows, interlinking of rivers etc. He has handled a number of important projects such as development of Hydrological Design Aids-Surface Water under HP-II, preparation of PMP Atlases etc.
He has been instrumental in the signing of agreement for implementation of Ken Betwa Link Project and initiating its implementation. He has held additional charge of Chief Executive Officer of Ken Betwa Link Project Authority for 2 years. He is managing all aspects related to the implementation of the link project. He is also associated with requisite organisational reforms for implementation of ILR Projects. He has been selected as Vice President of Central Board of Irrigation and Power (Water Resources Sector). He has published/presented a number of technical papers in various fields.
